Brilliant article for anyone bummed about not getting their primary choice of Lyon (ehheh). A lot of good points, and it makes me even more excited for when I finally find out whatever city I’m placed in.

Come at me, Yèvre-la-Ville population of 686!

    • Thank you for the encouragement! I read a blog by someone who was put in a tiny town in the académie of Nice, and she had an awful experience. I really doubt I would be dissatisfied with where I am, and I appreciate your reply. 🙂

      • I won’t be doing anything to prepare for a while. I will book my plane ticket later this month or early next month, and I will schedule an appointment with the consulate for August, but that’s it. I can’t do much else (re: finding housing) until I have more information on where I will be (which I will not know until June or July).

  1. Ditto Sarah: I’ve loved living in small-town provincial France! Upsides: You save more money because the cost of living is lower. You have a more authentic experience. And France is small (enough) that it’s not impossible to travel to bigger, more happening places if you start feeling stir crazy 😉

You’re going to have a great year!
