Musique Pop de Paris (2012)

All I can do until April is wait, so why not scour my catalog of French music while I do that?

I’ve got a huge French music collection, but where better to start than here? Last year Starbucks released this collection of cute French songs from the ’60s. It’s got most of the important figures in yé-yé and chanson, like Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Hallyday (my French host family was seriously crazy about him), and Jacques Dutronc. But you won’t see any of the depravity of L’histoire de Melody Nelson here! This is 100% twee.
